A cake should be chosen with your mouth, not just your eyes. Our tasting box lets you do that at home, in your own time, without a diary appointment.

How it works

The box is £55, and the full amount is redeemable against your cake — so if you go on to commission with us, the tasting has cost you nothing.

Each box holds six flavours and is posted anywhere in the UK.

We bake and send tasting boxes in a single batch at the end of each month. It’s a deliberate choice: everything is made fresh in one go and goes straight in the post, rather than sitting around waiting for a courier. It does mean timing matters — order early in the month and your box arrives sooner, and if you’re working towards a wedding date it’s worth getting your request in well ahead of when you’d like to decide.

What you’re tasting

Everything is baked from scratch to order — French butter, natural flavourings, nothing bought in. What arrives is exactly what your cake would taste like, made the same way on the same day of the week.

That matters more than it sounds. A great many cakes look extraordinary and taste like nothing in particular. The tasting is how you find out which sort you’re commissioning — ours or somebody else’s.

Dietary requirements

We can make most of our flavours gluten free, and nut free is usually straightforward. Dairy-free is available, and we can use xylitol in place of sugar. We don’t make vegan or eggless cakes.

Tell us before you order and we’ll build the box around what you can eat, rather than sending you things you’ll have to leave.

When to order one

Most couples taste while they’re still deciding, before anything is committed. If you’re working to our suggested six-month lead time for weddings, ordering a box early leaves room to change your mind — and to talk through design once you know what you like.
